L.B. Foster Celebrates International Women’s Day 2024: Spark Spotlight

The Spark Initiative is an employee resource group that targets all employees interested in furthering the mission of empowerment and professional growth of women in the workplace. Working to inspire inclusion, the group created a yearly female employee recognition program called Spark Spotlight.

Spark Spotlight highlights the women who make L.B. Foster a great place to work and their achievements. Women from all areas of the Company are nominated by fellow employees for the exceptional work they do every day.

For the 2023 Spark Spotlight, 17 women were nominated. Those recognized from our Rail segment were Abi Atkin, Group Business Admin, UK Central Services, Katie Beardmore, EHS Specialist III, Rail and Steel, Shelly Colucci, Northeast Regional Sales Manager, Rail, Michelle Makeema, Office Manager/ Project Manager, Rail, Amy Meyers, Production Supervisor, Krista Prokopuk, Group HR Manager, Rail, Lex Smith, Head of Internal Sales, Louisa Stanlake, Global Project Manager, Consumables, and Stacey Wright, Business Support Manager, Skratch.

The women that were highlighted from our Infrastructure segment were Lorena Holmstead, CAD Designer, Susan Irwin, Production Manager, Bridge, Julia Lowery, Supervisor, Office Admin, Michelle Miller, Sr. Manager, Supply Chain, Gina Ogg, Design Engineer II, Sarah Thornton, General Manager, Steel Products, Nina Tipton, Custom Order Manager, and Amber Wedegartner, Production Manager.

The internal spotlight featured information about each nominee’s job function, their favorite part about working at L.B. Foster, and the reason for their nomination by coworkers. Many of the nominees said they enjoyed working for L.B. Foster because of the culture, the people, the flexibility, and the challenge that their jobs provide.

Keeping a positive attitude through busy times, continuously going above and beyond to make sure customer’s needs are met, having a passion for safety, demonstrating a meticulous attention to detail in her work, and embracing new responsibilities while seeking opportunities to learn and grow are just a few of the characteristic these women have that granted them nominations from their coworkers.
