Keeping rail passengers informed with latest updates on travel disruption and services is a commitment that TransPennine Express is quite literally rolling out to its customers.
The rail franchise has invested in 18 new Inform by L.B. Foster mobile, wireless, battery-powered, fully interactive, touchscreen information totems. Each mobile display is now deployed across the TransPennine Express (TPE) network.
Joseph Smith is Customer Information Manager at TPE. He says: “Our investment in L.B. Foster’s Inform mobile totems is all about putting customers first.”
We’re providing access to essential travel information when and where it is needed - on the station concourse, by the ticket office, on individual platforms. That’s the beauty of mobile, totally wireless infrastructure that are battery powered; it can be positioned absolutely anywhere - indoors and out.
“We have been so impressed with the totems that we showcased them as part of the exclusive stakeholder launch of our new Nova 1, 2 and 3 trains at Liverpool Lime Street in November.”
Dagan Bradbury is L.B. Foster TEW Engineering’s Inform project manager. “Inform is a brilliant piece of innovation engineering. What drives it is the clever part. The Inform software pulls together data from any number of sources and presents it in a customer friendly format.
“The totem is just one way that we can deliver important information to travellers. The software can sit behind fixed screens, mobile displays - pretty much any form of screen hardware - to suit customer installation requirements.”
